Rosa's Letter

Dear Vicky and all at Women and Work

How are you all?
I just wanted to drop you a line to say how grateful I am of all the time and effort you dedicated to me in the last four years.
Life has been so busy since I started my new job that I've hardly had any time for anything else. I'm sure you know all about how that can be.

Let me take you on a little trip down memory lane.

When I came to you back in late 1998 after being at home with my son and suffering from postnatal depression. I wasn't really sure what I wanted to do.
I came in to see you after not having much help from the jobcentre.
I was very scared and worried that I would not be able to do much and I had no confidence in myself or what I would be able to do. All I knew was that I wanted to do something with computers. So after a long chat with you about what my options were you enrolled me onto you're Introduction to computers course.

At first I was so scared I nearly didn't go but I forced myself and it turned out to be the best choice I made. The course went well and when it finished I enrolled to do CLAIT 1. While I was waiting for that course to come up I went on to do several other courses you had going on. Like Return to Work,Interpersonal Skills.
Once I had done CLAIT 1 there was no stopping me I went on to do IBT 2 and every other course you had going. Which are far to many to remember.
Through out all this time you and all the staff at Women and Work helped me work through some very hard times. Not just on a professional level but also on a personal level. So when you asked me if I would be interested in doing some voluntary work I jumped at the chance. For me to be able to give someone else the kind of help that had been given to me was a great feeling and I couldn't have thought of a better way to give something back to the people that had helped me on my journey to a better life.
As you know as a result of all my computer courses I am now working for Adult Continuing Education as their Flexible Learning Administrator. I started off doing 16 hours a week to fit in with my son's morning sessions at school. Now that he is at school full time I have just been asked to do 27 hours and cover all four flexible learning centres.
This would never have been possible without you and everyone at Women and Work.

Thank you all once again
