Sue's Story

Hi,

I tried to find your questionnaire on your website and couldn't. So I thought I'd just give you some feedback on my progress. I found your comments on my CV really helpful, especially after getting such contradictory advice elsewhere. I immediately re-jigged everything and felt much happier and more positive. Before it seemed to show big gaps in my career path but afterwards showed me to be someone who had not only combined motherhood with moving around the world, but had done an awful lot during her 'career break'.

I had an interview at one firm who actually said that they thought job was not demanding enough for me, but they’d liked my CV so much that they had wanted to see me anyway as there might be future opportunities! I was offered a job as a Senior Admin Coordinator at a University, which had been my original goal, but turned it down as I have applied for a Graduate Teaching Programme which I think I'm more suited to and will lead to more money and job security as well as fitting in better with my children who are my number one priority. I am hoping to hear about an interview soon.

So I'd like to say thank you very much. You boosted my confidence at a time when I really needed it. The world of work is not a level playing field for women, especially mothers and more especially single mothers, and I think the service you provide is invaluable. I looked everywhere for guidance and there is no one else out there that is specifically geared towards mothers returning to work, or changing careers mid-life.

Best Wishes,

Sue
