Letter from the Moderator

I would like to put in writing that as always I am awed by the way you transform the lives of the women on your courses. Yesterday I was moved almost to tears when the women each told me what being on the course had meant to them.

Two Asian women told me they had never realised they were of any importance as human beings; two others said that in their culture one gave respect to elders but they had never praised their children and had not understood that everyone needs 'strokes'; another said that coming on the course was the most important decision she had taken in her life; and 2 Chinese women said they had curbed their aggressive attitude to everyone.

Recognising that an attitude/ feeling/ behaviour is inappropriate is one step - making changes is the difficult bit, but they all gave me examples of how they had made changes, and they felt so proud of themselves.

The value to the women of what you do with them is immeasurable. And, of course, the confidence you give them and the skills of relating effectively, is of such great importance in their search for employment.

I moderate at many colleges and organisations in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and London and while what I see is often of a very high standard indeed, in my opinion your courses have a magic ingredient that lifts them into a class of their own. To be able to touch people's lives in the way you do is a very special gift.

I only wish more women could have the opportunity to benefit from your approach.

Best wishes
